Measurement was with a multimeter, i do not have oscilloscope and would not know what to do with one if i had it. I will try the resistor and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks

How do you accurately set the multiplier to reflect accurate RSSI readings?

I have a dragonlink with 3.3v max buffered RSSI output. On the bench it is reading 2.96v (so I am losing 10% somewhere :-( ). How do I know what to set
the multiplier to in the software to accurately reflect 90% RSSI on the bar graph? I tried using a super high multiplier, but the bar graph never lit up the
last bar to the right. Is that one ever active? Anyway I reduced the multiplier until the second bar from the right was just barely on, and then multiplied
that multiplier by 90% to reflect the 10% loss measured by the voltmeter. Is that the correct approach or is there a more accurate way?

ghaynes check that the ribbon cable that came with the osd was made correctly. In my kit, the opposite end of the ribbon cable came premade (in comparison to the one shown in the instruction video) so if you missed that you may have the connector you installed on backwards.

Hello,

I have the same problem as Azred and wep800.
When i power the MK via a lab power supply with 12 Volt, the OSD picture is clear and sharp.
But if higer then 12 Volt the picture look like a saw and is "unreadable".

Also if i power the OSD via a Ubec or separate lab power supply (via pin 2 and 7), and only MK data via pin 1 and 9;the problem is the same.

Another strange thing happend.
Wen i got a seperate power supply (12 Volt) to the transmitter and camera; only the camera picture can be seen. (no OSD picture)
But when i power the transmitter and camera via 12 Volt Ubec (connect to MK PDB), then camrea and OSD picture can be seen (only OSD picture is unreadable).

Whats going on???

Richard

Regarding voltage induced OSD information flicker
I cut the voltage from the external bec to the camera and Tx from 12v to 11v and it had no effect on the flickering. I tried to buy a 75 ohm resistor at Radio Shack and they don't stock them anymore. I just ordered some. So it will be a few days before I can see if that solves the problem. I still have the same results, 3c works fine until voltage exceeds 12.3v then flicker.

This is one of those I think I know the answer but after a long day have lost my mind types of questions.

Want to connect my Xbee to the OSD. Can someone confirm the connections?

OSD XBee
Ground Pin 4 Ground
5V+ Pin 3 5V+
TX Pin 2 DIn
RX Pin 1 DOut

Long day trying to get my OSD working. Still no luck but after it gets corrected want to be able to use my Xbee's.

Hi guys,

Azred, wep800, PH-RCC - please take a look at your FC board and check if on your borad
there is DC/DC converter like this one this one
or this one
this one .
DC converters tend to increase the output voltage ripple when you increase input voltage.
Voltage stabilizers are much better for the job.
Guys please send me an email (irek@smart-electronics.eu) with following informations:
- do you power camera from the same source as MK?
- do you have DC converter or voltage stabilizer? (see above)
- does this problem occurs only when motors are running or it is persistent?

billyd - the easiest way - add an external battery indicator with input at ad1,
set first multiplier to 1.681, check if osd shows the same voltage as you put on ad1.
If osd show lower voltage then increase multiplier a bit. Then check if rssi works ok.
You can use other ad input, but ad1 will be best for that.

ghaynes - this led is lit when video signal is detected. So video cable is first to check.
If you will still have problems please send it to us.

Best Regards - Irek

Hi,

to connect the X-Bee(Pro) to OSD i use this connections:

OSD ............X-Bee
Pin 1 TX .......RX.. DIn.. PIN3
Pin 9 RX .......TX.. Dout..Pin2
Pin 2 +5V ....+5V (converted to 3,3V) .. VCC.. Pin1
Pin 7 GND ....GND..Pin10

I think you have the osd pinouts switched. UART2 of OSD is
pin 1 Rx
pin 2 Tx
pin 3 +5v
pin 4 gnd.

Thanks Irek. When I connect to 1ADC (JP3) with RSSI I get no RSSI graph results on the screen. Although I am sure I could get a voltage result if I wanted.

However, I do get the RSSI graph results on screen when I attach RSSI to ADC (max input 5v) between ppm input and gnd on JP11. Is this ok?

So I guess I alter the multiplier until I get a full RSSI bar graph with known 3.3v input (expected max output from dragonlink RSSI)? ps. The bar graph never seems to light up the last bar to the right regardless of how high I set the multiplier, I guess it is unused?

Sry, I misunderstood the question from ghaynes. I thought he want connect the X-Bee to OSD on Ground (X-Bee as RX) and not in MK (X-Bee as TX). I have my OSD on Ground in my Antennatracker.

billyd - use adc in JP11 (pind 2 and 3), I strongly recommend that you use the method I described above.

That's a clever idea never thought of it. Anyway either way it's rx to tx, tx to rx, +5v to +5v, and gnd to gnd in either case.

Ok will do.

Strange that you were able to get the gopro2 to work. I tried adjusting both pots on my osd and it had no effect at all. Maybe I have a seperate issue. Ah well it doesn't matter I've already got it setup perfectly with my kx-191, so I won't worry about the gopro2's live feed I'll just use it to record. I'm way under my weight capacity so the extra camera is insignificant, I still get 20minutes flight time with both.

Public Flogging in Order.

Ok gents first my sincere apologies. If you have ever seen the movie Forest Gump then I did a "Stupid is as Stupid does" on my install. While The video setup helped I should have paid closer attention when the person building did the the video cable. I had looked at the cable, made an assumption (assume = ass out of me) that the cable was a single wire that inserted into the video feed only with no insertion into the ground wire from the camera. BAD BAD assumption. So very quick fix, redid the wire, pulled the coax shield back on each wire, spliced them in and eureka. Everything works. Video, talking to the MK stack, everything.

Good thing the board is bulletproof. Last step is for me to get my Xbee installed but I think I have a bad board or Xbee. Doesn't work directly with the MK stack so will get some new parts.

Thanks to Irek and Andrzej for their emails.

Thanks for your quick help.

Gary
