Hello,

we developed new BL-Ctrls

How they look like:

These are the different kinds:

Single 3.0 2XL
- Current: 60A
- Optocoupler on the I2C-Bus -> no I2C-Error with long cables
- 3-pin Molex-connector for I2C-Bus (I2C will be connected via 3 lines - with own GND-line)

Okto XL Combi
- Current: 30A per ESC - max. approx. 120A in total / more for short times

Quadro 2XL Combi
- Current: 60A per ESC - max. approx. 120A in total / more for short times

Double-Quadro 2XL Combi (For Oktos)
- these are two combined Quadro-Boards
- Current: 60A per ESC - max. approx. 2*120A in total / more for short times
In the Betatest, our partner "Altigator" tested them with a 15kg Okto -> 200A current on 6S Lipo

Hexa XL Combi
- Current: 30A per ESC - max. approx. 120A in total / more for short times
- comes later - still in design phase

Eckdaten BL3.0:
- 10 - 30V -> 3 - 7S Lipo
- Big PCB for optimal heat dissipation. 70µ copper layers make the entire circuit board to the heat sink.
- Higher currents
- Active freewheeling -> less power losses
- Significantly faster reaction
- Active braking and rapid acceleration of the propeller. Active and seamless braking brings the speed precisely and quickly on the new setpoint. Energy recovery back into the lipo when braking.
- Adjustable motor timing in several steps
- Adjustable switching frequency (10kHz - 20kHz )
- I2C bus with 11 bit (2048 steps)
- PPM input up to 500Hz
- Status messages are transmitted to the FC (blocked motor, overcurrent, self -test error ... )
- I2C data bus parralel to PPM input -> allows datalogging with PPM-Operation
- Integrated 12V stabilisation for LEDs and other accessory
- Switchable output for LEDs, controlled by FlightContrl -> for blinking at undervoltage
- Silent start: test tone when switching on can be disabled
- Precise current and temperature measurement with telemetry transfer to FC
- Adjustable start PWM
- Direction of rotation selectable by software
- Adjustable current and temperature limits
- Convenient configuration of the BL controller via FC

Significantly higher stability in flight

The new BL controllers can slow down the propeller as quick as speed up. Especially if larger propeller (starting at 12 ") are used, it makes a very big difference.
All who have tested the controller so far are excited with the higher agility.
Tests have shown that the new BL-Ctrl bring up to 10-15% more flight time.
During braking, the energy fed back into the battery, or dispensed to another (eg the opposite) motor.

I am really looking forward to test new BL-CTRL V3.0 with my OCTO-XL

I think Mikrokopter electronics became more powerful, reliable and robust with new BL-CTRL v3.0.

I saw the carbon fiber arms on your video . Are you planning to have a new chassis for bigger Motors .

Yes, we will sell the 6S Lipos and motors also.
The fiber-arms are planed so be sold only with 'ready to fly' MikroKopters.

He used the "Double-Quadro 2XL" - without heatsink!

Holger, I can't find the weight of the new boards anywhere. Can you provide it ? That would be most helpful when calculating the total added weight of going to a 6s platform.

Do you have a recommendation for AUW for the two octo boards? I would like to upgrade my Cinestar with MK stack to 6S using either the Okto XL or Double-Quadro 2XL to achieve 9-10kg (max, probably more like 8kg) AUW. Using 2 8000mah 6S batteries, it looks like the current draw would be 10-20A per motor max, but would the Double-Quadro 2XL give me any advantages in that configuration?

Good advice. I ordered the Double Quadro.

I’m wondering about the heatsink I see in some of your photos. Is that a custom thing, or something you are going to offer? I may go with some active cooling (a small fan) as I’d like to fabricate a cover for the central hub, and I want to make sure there’s good air circulation inside.

Also, what wire gauge do you suggest for the pigtails from the pads to the motor wires?

And is there a bullet connector that you recommend?

Hi Holger,

Is it a pcb or a alu plate that have been sandwiched between the 2 boards?

It is a aluminium plate as heatsink

It’s ALIVE! So excited to get this beautiful piece of kit into the air.

I noticed something interesting when soldering the pigtails: Holger’s design for the whole board to be a heatsink, as well as the addition of the cooling plates, makes the entire assembly very warm when soldering. It does a great job of dissipating the heat. As soon as I remove the soldering iron, the solder cools immediately!

Just be careful not to do cold solders then. It's a bit hard to see from your picture, but your solders doesn't look as shiny as they could be. That could be a result of cold solders.

First flights with the new BLs showed no temps over 40 degrees Celsius. Pretty amazing!!

Hello HolgerB
I've tested your BLCL 0.2 with the MK3644 brushless motor, It is powerful and very nice.
I'm planning to use the controller v0.3 but I have a question about If I could change the rotation direction of the brushless motor by wireless means or using a transmitter such as (MX-20 HoTT Transmitter (incl. GR16) - ENGLISH) or any Arduino boards?

So, I would like to control the rotational motion of the BL motor to rotate CW and CCW while operation without change wiring arrangements. Is it possible? and How can I do that?
