nice, would be interesting to see this in windy conditions. Did you do anything against vibrations ?

That was expected. Now we just need them to make something bigger for high-end camcorders and bigger.

following up actual rumors that is exactly what they plan. I'm as well waiting for the Photohigher Hero Series as far as folks tell it will be something equal but flexible for different camera usage. Lowlight on the Zenmuse is the nail down to just one camera and the hight weight of the whole system.
S800 full equipped with Zenmuse Z15 and a NEX5N is 4,9 KG plus Lipo.

Highlight is that this is in fact best stabile raw video i have ever seen before from below any multi rotor, so for now its quite worth the money.

It wouldn't make sense if they didn't plan one :D

Regarding weight, a good coax dodeka kopter would have no problem with lifting that weight, but agree, it will be a heavy, but very capable setup.

As far a i know there are some FS 100 DJI mounts in the states, there were two videos by DJI one in the states from some production company and one in china with a gasser heli were later DJi stated a FS100 on a special mount was used etc. I am pretty sure that several others will follow. For now it will the GH2 next and than they will add FW support for different lenses on the NEX and GH2.

It will be interesting to see how their concept compares to the PH approach. I guess the real genius behind all of this is not the direct drive motors etc. but the algorithm and their IMU that makes everything work. Looking at the moderate success with the Skyline at the moment I think PH still has a longer way and than it has to show if this universal cam approach will really work in customers hand. Lets hope for the best ! Or it is what as stated once and than denied right away again that their is a cooperation on the direct drive mounts between PH and DJI.

Is it correct that for the Zenmuse it is best to use the 16mm lens with the NEX5/NEX7 ? Or can I also use the stock lens that comes with the cam ?

at the moment only the E 16 is supported for NEX,

statement from DJI which lenses will follow:

"We do have 21 and 24mm lenses support and mount after GH2.
We do have users using 24mm Zeiss lens with some mod done by themselves; and works fine."

So the game is that for every lens and Cam model they introduce a specific FW and a I think a modification to the cradle is necessary.

I'm wondering what's so special about the gimbal? It's just increadibly heavy! Why do you need a 1.5kg gimbal for a 350g camera? If you put 1kg weight on a dampened camera there are no vibrations left. This is also true for other gimbals which weigh only 500g. That's physics, no magic. But the additional payload weight increases the system weight and therefore the usability. You can get comparable results (also with Sony NEX-5N) with a 200g mount and a 2kg system takeoff weight:

Hi Jast

Any gear driven hobby servo based mount will introduce a backlash and is far from filtering out any vibration or fast enough to deal with fast correcting movement introduced by the FC when auto leveling.
Zenmuse does not only keep the cam level its motors tune in to the vibrations produced by the setup and evens them out.

If you can show me a raw video full flight (like the one below) with the common mounts available AV 130 AV200 CS gimbal Picloc MK stab DJI Stabi, believe me done them all, I would be very amazed.
