Hi,

Is there a way to convert geo-tagged TIFF files to a file format supported by MK Tools (MKZ?).

At times, we have to buy imagery that is more recent than what is available through Holger's mapping tool, but we are struggling with how to convert the data so Map can see it properly.

The maps images that MK-Tool use is simply a JPG image with coordinates as text in JPEG comment (EXIF description?). The coordinates are in WGS84 format with decimal degrees (ISO 6709).

With an existing MK map JPEG file you can see the JPEG comment with a image viewer like FastStone.

I do not know of a program that directly can convert from TIFF with coordinates to MK map. However in MK-Tool Map screen if you load a JPEG without the coordinates you can type them in.

To get the coordinates from a TIFF file, use listgeo command line tool from GeoTIFF. You can get a compiled version for Win32 as part of libgeogui. Use the command line tool not the GUI.

Remember to check that the TIFF file uses WGS84 coordinates system.
